The plot behind FFVII: Crisis Core

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core for PSP

We’ve covered every bit of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core news that came our way since PSPGN’s launch last year. Now, for the first time ever, let’s take a look at how the game fits into the Final Fantasy universe.

Crisis Core is a prequel to the original Final Fantasy VII for the Sony PlayStation. The protagonist in the game is Zack Fair, a 1st Class soldier. Cloud Strife will also be wound into the story, though he is only a Shinra Guard at this point.

The story revolves around the events of Nibelheim outlined in Last Order: Final Fantasy VII. The Shinra Electric Power Company still holds a monopoly over the mako energy market and is focusing efforts on building their military.

Inside the SEPC army, the highest ranking soldiers are given the First Class title. These officers demand the respect and attention for people all over the world. Zack Fair happens to be one of many soldiers trying to achieve First Class rank.

Unfortunately, trouble brews when soldiers start to go missing during a mission in Wutai, Genesis. The SEPC sends out a group of soldiers to resolve the issue; among them are Zack, Angeal, and Sephiroth. Returning characters in Crisis Core include Aerith, Tseng, Reno, Rude, and Professor Hojo.

“Men who shed tears for their own fate, and for their friends.” Look for big Crisis Core news this August.
