First look: Final Fantasy I for PSP
Twenty years ago (yes, 20!), Square first released the groundbreaking Final Fantasy game in Japan. The Famicom RPG defined the roleplaying genre and changed gaming forever. Now, Square Enix is celebrating their roots with a completely remastered version for the PSP.
There will actually be two Final Fantasy releases this month - FFI and FFII. I find it strange to believe that there is a whole gaming generation that is oblivious to these titles. If you haven’t played FFI before, the game revolves around the four Warriors of Light and the sacred crystals.
Don’t worry, the PSP version has been completely remade from the ground up. The game features updated graphics (although still relatively simple) to take full use of the PSP’s beautiful 16:9 widescreen. FFI Anniversary will also include a new musical score, an art gallery, new gameplay elements, and a brand new dungeon to explore.

While some people may find the game to be a bit too simple by today’s RPG standards, long-time fans of the series may be interested in picking this one up - for nostalgic value if nothing else.
