God of War: Chains of Olympus - what we know

Chains of Olympus PSP

We’ve talked a lot about Chains of Olympus in the past few weeks, but not with out good reason. The game is one of the most anticipated titles for the PSP this year. Here’s what we know so far.

God of War: Chains of Olympus is a PlayStation Portable exclusive. It is expected to be released sometime in fall 2007, with a muddy estimate of November. Chains of Olympus will be the second project developed for the PSP by Ready at Dawn, the same people responsible for Daxter.

At the official God of War II launch party on March 13, 2007, GOWII director Cory Barlog clarified that the PSP God of War game would not be a continuation of the series or a remake, but a separate side story. He added, “it is its own story that connects to the overall story. God of War, God of War II, and then if all the stars align God of War III will be the telling of a trilogy. This PSP story will be a further fleshing out.”

After Chains of Olympus was officially announced last month, it was revealed that the game is actually a prequel to the God of War series. Chains of Olympus will take you through the various adventures of Kratos during the ten years he spent in servitude of the Gods (hence the game’s title which implies the bond between Kratos and the deities of Olympus).

The video trailer below depicts Kratos in a couple of different fight scenes. In the end of the video, Kratos is knocked into a pit as he fights off reptilian creatures.
