PSP camera coming to Europe

PSP Go Camera

Now, considering that the PSP camera was released in Japan last fall, there is no good reason that we’ve had to wait this long to get the camera out of Japan. Last week, Sony announced that the PS3 would be getting a new rendition of the EyeToy, simly called “Eye.” Today, Sony has confirmed that the PSP camera will be coming to Europe soon.

The PSP camera, known as “Chotto Shot” in Japan, will be called Go! Cam. The PSP Go! Cam will be released in PAL territories on May 16.

The camera is relatively capable and includes a microphone. Sony is marketing the Go! Cam for use with 4GB MemorySticks, in which it can potentially take over 40,000 photos. The camera will also come with editing software to manipulate your picture, video, and audio files.

SCEE’s PSP marketing manager, Stephane Hareau, commented, “With summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP.”

The Go! Cam will go for the price of £34.99 in the UK, and 49.99 euros in other PAL territories. No official word on a US release date yet.
