   Yes, unfortunately you must downgrade to firmware 1.5 before you can use any custom firmware… and firmware 3.11 cannot be downgraded yet :(

   I recently installed Dark_Alex releases custom firmware 3.40 OE-A. Now i cant play my sega and snes emulators… do I need to downgrade back to 1.5…if so is that possible and how do I do it… Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

   frank, you should have no problem using emulators on 3.40 OE-A. The firmware is homebrew compatible. I would suggest trying different emulators. Make sure you are using PSP-specific emulators!

   my psp ran otu of battery when i was moving an iso to the memory stick. the iso would then not run and now no isos run at all. I have tried re-installing 3.40, which installed fine, but still the same error about not being able to run the iso… any ideas anyone?

   i was thinking of downgrading again to 1,5 and starting install from there, but i cant seem to find a downgrader (or uninstaller that is) for the custom firmware.

   help would be very appreciated :D

   im having a problem i have a version 3.50 firmware on my psp but it is not open edition. im trying to get custon firmware 3.40 oe on it. But when i download it on my computer it comes to these four folders and oeupdmaker,oeupdmaker%,oeflasher and oeflasher%. when i follow the instructions i open up the 3.40 oe update maker on my psp but it says that the game could not be started every time this happens. i really need a more clear answer please. i need 3.40 oe because i want to put the xmb icons on and my version 3.50 with out oe has no recovery mode and when i want to put the xmb icons on it says that 3.40 oe is mandatory please give me an answer asap!!!!!!!!

   dhues, you have to downgrade to firmware 1.50 before you can use ANY kind of open edition or hacked firmware. Unfortunately, it is not possible to downgrade from firmware 3.50 at this time. :(

   No you are misundertanding him. I have the same problem he does. We both have custom firmware already. But we can’t run the emulators. Why? We don’t need to downgrade so we can get custom firmware, we already have it

    I cannot get any SNES emulator to run on my custom firmware 3.40 OE-A either. Have tried many things. I put the GAME150 on the root, and in the PSP folder and even in the PSP\Game folder. It just crashes and shuts off the PSP. Anyone have any ideas???

    i made a ISO folder in the root of my mem card and i put a iso game in there for psp
    then i go to psp/game and can see the game so i load it but then!!!! i see a black creen only and it just freezes

    what to do ? :(

    I’ve been sifting thru forums for 3 days now trying to figure out how to run emulators on my PSP. It’s intimidating to ask questions, because ultimately someone who could build a PSP out of an old radio will flame you like you’re a retard for not being lucky enough to have found the answer in a thread or via google. I just bought a used PSP, having never seen one before. There’s a lot of confusion about what you have to do, and what order you need to do it in to keep from bricking the rig. All of these people who have done it successfully, and who were kind enough to create howtos on the subject seem to have 1 thing in common - they all have taken for granted that I know what most of them know about a PSP. For instance: it says my firmware is 3.40, but when I put in a UMD, a new icon appears in the “Game” menu that says PSP Update ver 2.71 What does that mean? Is my PSP already modded? If not, what do I really have to do to run emulators? These are answers that I can’t find. Please help. You may now throw tomatoes.

    I’ve slept since my last comment, so my frustration level is a little more manageable. I’ve given it some thought, and most of my problems lie in the nature of time and change. Old posts and google howtos deal with old firmware releases and old techniques. New posts and howtos typically make the assumption that you’ve been modding PSP’s since ‘04. I realize that it is frustrating to the knowledgeable to take noobs back to square 1, but they were all noobs once too - who share a common interest. I think that a well-thought out and maintained noob archive would save a lot of smart people (and noobs) a lot of time and frustration. Here’s my problem:
    I have a PSP1001 with 3.40 FW. It does not have the undesirable MoBo. Apparently there is no way to downgrade 3.40 to 1.5, but it’s possible if I update to 3.5, except now the current version is something like 3.72. So if I upgrade I get stuck with 3.72 and I’d need a “Pandora Battery”? And how do I get my hands on 1.5 firmware for the Kickjig method? If I don’t upgrade to 3.72 is there a way to upgrade to 3.5? And then I’ll need a “Lumines” UMD game? What is Dark_AleX’s universal downgrader. It seems that no matter what you do, you need to already have 1.5 firmware first. Oops…there goes my blood pressure.

    The update Update ver 2.71 is a program that is located and comes with a UMD that you have in your PSP. This is because you need this version of firmware to play the game, and if your psp firmware is lower then you have to run the update to play the game. These are all official updates.

    I understand your frustration. I took me a very long time to get 3.52 M33 custom firmware, and believe me the process was extremely extensive. I will say though that now I can play all homebrew, emulators, and ISO’s. Its the greatest thing for the PSP.

    Also your path to get there is different. It depends on the firmware you currently have, and the PSP version you have. I have the original version, and only ever upgraded to official 2.8 firmware before custom.

    The answer to your questions unfortunatly is you need to figure it out or find someone who knows that can actually do it for you.

    Just remember, read everything 3 times before doing, make sure others have tried and tested the method, and be extremely careful.

    Oh yah. If you wish to run emulators you need either firmware 1.5 or custom firware. Custom firware gives the option to run your game directory under firmware 1.5. This allows most programs to run. At least for me emulators work great.

    So yes to get anywhere the most risky and crutial part is to get your psp downgraded to firware 1.5 if this is possible. I read somewhere that the PSP lite (I assume newest one) will never run 1.5 firware, and is made by sony to not be able to.

    Heineken. find a site called psp hacks and search there. All the information u need is there. Ive just upgraded my firmware to 3.03 then downgraded to 1.50 then up again to custom 3.40oe a. u can find everything u need on this site
