PSP sales down in Japan, game sales up
Even though Sony’s PS2 is still in the spotlight, it doesn’t hide the fact that the PlayStation 3 is selling at a snail’s pace. The PS3 dropped from 16,889 units sold to 15,520 last week, making it the worst week ever for the system.
The PSP also saw a drop in Japanese sales from 39,077 units to 31,503 - still considerably better than the PS3. The Sony PSP did see a jump in game sales, though. The release of Gundam SEED Alliance vs. ZAFT Portable managed to hit the top of the charts last week. Not surprisingly, Monster Hunter Portable 2 is still in the top ten coming in at number 8 last week.
Hopefully the PSP’s new low price will help to revive lagging sales.
