I have no clue how the special firmwares are created, and how they work (because I am stuck with psp 3.03 and no GTA LCS), but isn’t it possible for one of Dark Alex’s upgrades to trick the psp somehow into thinking it is upgrading to a higher version, so it will not need to be run on 1.5? And if not, why not?

    Jake,

Theoretically, that would be possible. The problem is that Sony implemented strong security in 3.03, so the only way around it is through an exploit in GTA LCS.

Dark_Alex has designed his custom firmware around firmware 1.5 because it lacks any real kind of security features. A 1.5 PSP will recognize his custom firmware. I don’t know if they will ever make a custom firmware that can be upgraded to without downgrading first.

Either way, there is no way around using GTA LCS at the moment :(

    Hey,

I just got me PSP and upgraded it to 3.30 from the sony website.

I just read about the crack for it but my question is, will I able to download and use the custom version that has just released on my 3.30 firmware from sony? In the readme file, it says ‘if oyu have 1.50′ but I don’t have that.

    Hey Danni,

Unfortunately, you can only use custom firmware on a 1.50 PSP. Currently, there is no way to downgrade firmware 3.30 to 1.50, so I hate to say that you’re out of luck for now.

Hopefully there will be a way to downgrade v3.30 in the future.

How come there is a downgrader for 3.30 and not 3.11?

    ali & ah -
There is no need for a 3.11 downgrader/oe firmware. All you need to do is download firmware 3.50 and update to that firmware. Then use the N00bz downgrader to change your PSP to firmware 1.50.

Finally, you will be able to install the latest oe firmware. Check out http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/ for more information.
