$50 off the PSP Value Pack

The biggest complaint about the PSP is that people want a price cut. Last year, Sony tried to hush the complaints by releasing a Core package only containing the PSP unit for $199, vs $249 for the Value Pack. Now, it appears the PSP is finally getting a real price cut.

The latest Gamestop ad shows the PSP Value Pack with a price of $199. The bundle includes a 32MB Memory Stick, headphones, and a PSP sleeve. Considering the rapidly dropping value of Memory Sticks, I don’t think the Value Pack is worth the extra $50 anymore. Maybe the Giga Pack will replace the Value Pack at $249? That would be a fair price.

This doesn’t look like a price cut initiated by Sony, though. Rather, a limited time offer from Gamestop to celebrate the PSP’s two year anniversary. This offer is available in stores only.
