Sony Europe almost confirms redesigned PSP
We’re starting to see a pattern here. Industry insiders have been dropping slips all this week about a redesigned PSP on the horizon.
First, Sony America said there was no “PSP Lite” planned. Then Kotaku receives a tip from a third party developer that a PSP2 is coming at the end of this year. Now, Ray Maguire, Managing Directory for Sony Europe says that the PSP is just the first iteration of the system.
Maguire was speaking at an event titled PSP in Education when he dropped the bomb that a slimmer, pocket-sized version of the system was coming. However, Maguire made it very clear that the PSP’s screen size will not be getting any smaller.
However, Sony Europe is now denying that a PSP2 is on the way, saying that they only have plans to improve the PSP’s firmware.
The PlayStation Portable has received more than its share of “upgrade” rumors. However, these rumors may actually hold some merit - considering they came directly from the horse’s mouth.
We’ll keep you posted on any other PSP2 news.
