Sony PSP sales closing in on DS

PSP backside

Last month was a record breaking month for PlayStation sales. January 2007 brought in over $550 million revenue for Sony in North America alone. Sony writes, “PSP sales in January were exceptionally strong with the system quickly closing the gap on the leading competitor.” In other words, the gap between the PSP and DS is getting smaller.

No official sales figures have been released yet, so it’s hard to know just how well the PlayStation Portable is doing. Whatever the case, it’s clear that Sony’s PlayStation line has been doing quite well lately. This is exciting news for the PSP, despite what EB Games says.

Personally i think that the PSP has a far greater advantage of closing in on the DS Because PSP has the choice to get a PSP2 while the DS won’t be able too because when theres a number one e.g the original DS, then a Number two The DS Lite if there is a number Three , it will show the weakness of the DS as people and the sony company will see the desperation of the Nintendo DS company.
But the DS does have an advantage beacause it is for the younger generation while the PSP is for the young adults preferably 13-27 and this will put the older adults who play looked down upon by other adults who think gaming is for little kids aka 6-12 or 13 and this will put the adults off playing which will decrease the sales of the PSP
