Monster Hunter 2 coming to U.S., U.K.?

Monster Hunter 2 on PSP

PSP fans have been drooling over the Monster Hunter series since the beginning. Unfortunately, there has been no official word whether or not a Monster Hunter game will ever hit U.S. shores. However, new evidence may suggest otherwise.

A senior member from the official Capcom message boards, OrleanKnight, writes that not only will Monster Hunter 2 be coming to the U.S. and Europe this year, but it will be sold under the name Monster Hunter Freedom 2.

OrleanKnight writes, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd will be released February 2007 in Japan, and following its release a US/Euro version will be released under the title of Monster Hunter Freedom 2. There is so no solid release date for the western adaptation however, and logically should be expected to be in stores anywhere between four to six months after the February release of Portable 2nd.

He also goes on to say that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 will be slightly different from the Japanese version, but will be largely unchanged.

Again, this is pure word of mouth and Capcom has made no official statement on the matter. We can only hope these rumors are true…

The official press release from Capcom states: “Capcom plans to release this game as Monster Hunter Freedom 2 across PAL territories in September 2007.” […]
