PSP gets new online features
In Gamespot’s interview with Phil Harrison, the PSP was brought up quite often. The biggest announcement was that the PlayStation Portable will be getting plenty of new “network features.” Specifics weren’t given, but one can assume what this means.
I’m guessing some of the PS3’s network functions are going to be leaked onto its portable cousin. Namely, the PlayStation Network Store (to download PS1 games), and also better use of the browser (web page compatibility, RSS management, memory organization).
In a later interview, Phil stated, “this year we’ll be adding some functionality to the PSP that will unify our approach.” I’m also positive that Sony’s going to come out with a PlayStation “Gamer ID” not unlike the 360. This would allow them to better integrate the PSP with the PS3 and offer a complete online experience. Exciting!
